Dave Chappelle's controversial new Netflix standup special "The Closer" has a very high audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes despite calls from activists to remove the piece of content from the streamer's library. The comedian, 48, is being criticized by many in the LGBTQ community for comments he made about transgender people. Despite many like Netflix's own "Dear White People'' showrunner Jaclyn Moore coming out strong against the special, Chappelle himself has been able to laugh off the backlash, even getting a standing ovation during an appearance at the Hollywood Bowl last week.

Rotten Tomatoes makes change to stop 'trolling'

BBC News

Rotten Tomatoes is no longer allowing people to post comments about films before they come out, to try to stop trolling. The site announced the change in a blog post, saying some comments are "a disservice to our general readership". It says there's been an "an uptick in non-constructive input, sometimes bordering on trolling". But the movie site assured fans they would still be able to review films once they're released. "We have decided that turning off this feature for now is the best course of action," the blog said.

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Rotten Tomatoes User Reviews Tanked By 4Chan Campaign?

International Business Times

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" has been a box office success, racking up more than $220 million during its opening weekend, and is a hit with critics but its audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is barely floating above 50 percent as the result of what appears to be an organized review bombing campaign. Of the more than 116,000 audience reviews "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" has received so far, just 55 percent have been positive. Many of the negative reviews take issue for what the viewers perceive to be too political and pushing a "social justice warrior" agenda. It's not often that a film was well received by critics as "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" struggles to please fans. While the franchise has a giant and rabid fan base, it appears the audience review section has been invaded by the only group more dedicated than Star Wars diehards: trolls.
